Dr Darakhshan holds Public Darbar at Udhampur, chairs meeting on Eid preparedness

Says public endorsement of Waqf Board’s initiatives in J&K is our guiding force

 

Udhampur: Chairperson J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, today convened a Public Darbar at Eidgah in Udhampur in which prominent social representatives and locals raised their issues and concerns besides suggesting measures for further streamlining of working of the Board.
Waqf Board Chief Executive Officer, Zahir Kaifi and Administrator Jammu, Abid Hussain accompanied the Chairperson.
Civil society representatives including Sheikh Tanvir Ahmad, Surinder Singh Khalsa, Waseem Akram, Anwar Hussain and Tariq Shah also spoke on the occasion.
Besides, Ulema and Imams of Udhampur district also participated in the event.
In her address, Andrabi said that there is commendable improvement in working of Waqf Board management during the past three years. Focus is being accorded to ensure complete transparency and accountability in extending Board services in J&K. She said that the consolidation and upgradation of our assets in whole of the UT is now being done to full satisfaction of the people. “Public endorsement of initiatives of the Board in J&K is our guiding force”, she maintained.
“We are committed to strengthen the Sufi centers throughout J&K”, said Andrabi. She announced that a shopping complex will be constructed by the Board in Udhampur at Waqf Land which will give work opportunities to the local youth besides generating funds for infrastructure development.
Dr Darakhshan, later, chaired a meeting to review Eid preparedness in which representatives from different government departments and Waqf Board officers participated.
ADC Udhampur Prem Singh, CEO Udhampur Municipality, Rajender Digra, Executive Engineer JKPDCL, Executive Engineer PWD, and Naib Tehsildar, among others, were present in the meeting.
Dr Andrabi stressed upon the need to work in a coordinated manner to provide adequate facilities to the people during the Ramzan special celebrations and Eid festival as well.
