Sajad Lone Slams NC’s Shamima Firdaus Over Selective Outrage on Killings

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) President Sajad Lone on Tuesday strongly criticized National Conference (NC) leader Shamima Firdaus over her remarks on killings and arrests in the region, questioning the selective outrage over the past three decades.

Speaking during a discussion, Lone pointed out that numerous people have been killed over the last 30 years, and the real question should be who was responsible for their deaths. He questioned why certain periods of violence were highlighted while others were ignored.
“The point of order is that in the last 30 years, many people have been buried in graves.
Who should be asked who killed them? Shamima Firdaus spoke about killings and arrests, but did no one die between 1996 and 2002, or from 2008 to 2014?” Lone asked.
He also raised concerns over prolonged detentions, citing the case of senior separatist leader Shabbir Shah, who, according to Lone, has been imprisoned for 45 years.

As Firdaus continued her remarks, a disruption followed, with Lone asserting that the discussion was not a scripted event. “This is not a movie!” he remarked, further intensifying the heated exchange. (KNS)
