Beerwah Bailey Bridge Declared Unsafe for Heavy Vehicles, Authorities Propose New Construction

Budgam: Authorities in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district have declared the Beerwah Bailey Bridge over Nallah Sukhnang unsafe for heavy vehicles, restricting their movement until further notice.

Naib Tehsildar Beerwah, Abdul Qayoom Ahanger told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the bridge in Beerwah main town has been assessed as structurally weak, posing a risk to heavy vehicular traffic. In response, the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department Beerwah has already submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to higher authorities, seeking approval for the construction of a new bridge at the site.

Officials have urged commuters, especially those operating heavy transport vehicles, to adhere to the restrictions to avoid any untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, residents have appealed for swift action on the proposed bridge to ensure seamless connectivity in the area. [KNT]
