Cross-border terrorism biggest threat to people, J&K India’s integral part: MEA

Rejects Turkey’s statement on Kashmir, asks Erdogan not to interfere in India’s internal matters

New Delhi : Reiterating that cross-border terrorism remains the biggest threat to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday asked Turkey not to interfere in India’s internal matters.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) while addressing a news conference in the national capital said, “Pakistan’s persistent policy of using terrorism as a tool against India is a matter of grave concern.”

“Pakistan’s policy of sponsoring terror remains the biggest threat to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

Jaiswal’s remarks came in response to recent comments by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who called for a “resolution of the Kashmir issue” through dialogue between India and Pakistan, taking into account the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Rejecting Turkey’s stance, the MEA spokesperson said, “Such unwarranted statements on India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty are unacceptable.”

He emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, and no country has the right to interfere in its internal affairs.

The MEA spokesperson said, “We have lodged a formal protest with the Turkish ambassador in New Delhi.”
