Speaker LA reviews progress on new Legislative Assembly Complex

Sets deadline of 18 months for R&B to complete prestigious project

Jammu: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, today convened a meeting with senior officers to review progress on construction of new Legislature Complex at Jammu.

Secretary, PWD (R&B), Bhupinder Kumar; Secretary, Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, Achal Sethi; DG, Budget, Mohammad Sultan; DG Codes, Mahesh Dass; Secretary, JKLA, Manoj Kumar Pandit; Chief Engineer R&B Jammu; SE R&B, South Circle Jammu and other senior officers of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.

Threadbare discussions were held on the issues pertaining to construction of new Assembly Complex in view of recent cabinet decisions.

A detailed presentation about various phases of project execution was given by the Executive Engineer in charge of the project through PowerPoint Presentation.

The Secretary PWD(R&B) informed the Speaker regarding the action taken on the directions given by the Council of Ministers. It was informed that the DPR of balance work has been submitted to IIT Jammu for vetting. As soon as vetting of DPR is received, tendering process shall be initiated.

He also assured the Speaker that all modalities for the tendering process will be completed by 31st of March 2025.

The Speaker directed the Executing Agency to complete the project within 18 months after award of contract. He stressed upon them to immediately start the construction works on the new Assembly Complex after completion of the tendering process.
