Kashmir receives moderate rain, Gulmarg records fresh snowfall

Srinagar: Various parts of Kashmir received moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours, with Gulmarg witnessing fresh snowfall of 7.5 cm, according to official data.

As per Kashmir weather as per the recorded rainfall on Thursday,  Tangmarg received the highest rainfall at 12.2 mm, followed by Gulmarg with 7.6 mm and Kupwara with 7.4 mm. Sopore and Bumhama Kupwara recorded 7.2 mm and 6.0 mm, respectively.

Other notable rainfall figures include Baramulla (6.0 mm), Lolab (6.2 mm), Bandipora (4.5 mm), Shopian (5.0 mm), Kulgam (4.5 mm), and Kokernag (4. 2mm). Srinagar, the summer capital, recorded 1.2 mm of rainfall, while its airport reported the same amount.

Pulwama, Pampore, and Sangam recorded 2.0 mm each, whereas Anantnag received 3.0 mm. The famous tourist destination of Pahalgam recorded 2.2 mm, while Qazigund received 2.0 mm of rainfall.

Officials stated that the fresh spell of precipitation is likely to improve the overall water supply situation in the region. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted more rain and snow in higher reaches over the next few days. (KNS)
