Amit Shah to review implementation of new Criminal Laws in J&K today

LG Manoj Sinha, CM Omar Abdullah to attend high-level meet in Delhi

Srinagar: In a significant development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the implementation of new criminal laws in Jammu & Kashmir.

Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the meeting will be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and top officials from the central government and Jammu and Kashmir as well.

They said that the meeting will start at 11 am in the ministry of Home Affairs office in North Block, New Delhi.

A close aide to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed that he has been invited to attend the meeting.

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam replaced the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure CrPC) and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872 after new criminal laws came into effect from July 1 last year.
