SSP Ganderbal Lauds Police for Securing Convictions in Rape, Kidnapping, Drug Peddling Cases

Ganderbal, Feb 17 :Ganderbal police have successfully secured the conviction of three accused in separate criminal cases, marking a significant achievement in their ongoing efforts to ensure justice and deter crime in the region.
At a press conference on Saturday, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Ragav, hailed the efforts of the police, especially the Investigating Officers and other teams involved, for securing these convictions, which he said would serve as a deterrent to others engaged in criminal activities.
In the first case, an accused was convicted of rape and kidnapping, receiving a concurrent sentence of 14 years—7 years for each of the charges.
The court also delivered a notable sentence in a second case involving the rape and kidnapping of a minor girl. The accused was sentenced to a total of 27 years—20 years for rape and 7 years for kidnapping.
In the third case, a drug peddler, who had been booked in October 2024, was convicted and sentenced to 6 months of imprisonment.
SSP Ganderbal praised the meticulous efforts of the investigation teams that played a crucial role in securing these convictions. He stated, “These convictions are the result of sustained efforts by our police officers and teams, and they will send a strong message to criminals in the region,” Mr Ragav as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust said.
He said the successful conviction of these three individuals underscores the Ganderbal police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions. The SSP reiterated that the police will continue their efforts to combat crimes, particularly those affecting women and minors, while also addressing the growing issue of drug peddling in the region.
