Colleges in Kashmir to reopen tomorrow

Over 2 Lakh students to appear in 10th, 12th exams tomorrow

Srinagar : Colleges in Kashmir valley are all set to resume academic activities from Saturday following a fifty days of winter vacations.

The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department on December-20-2024 had announced 50-days winter vacation for degree colleges falling in the winter zones of Kashmir division.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the government had said that the degree colleges in the Kashmir Division and those in the winter zone of Jammu Division shall observe winter vacations from December-27-2024 to February-14-2025.

Besides, the government had also announced winter break for colleges of summer zones of Jammu region from January-01 to January-10-2025.

In the meantime, More than 2 lakh students of 10th and 12th standard are all set to appear in the annual regular board exams.
Pertinently, the schools in Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu division will reopen on March-01. In a phased manner winter vacations, School Education Department had said that for students’ upto 5th standard the vacations will begin from December-10 to February-28-2025 and in case of students from 6th standard to 12th standard, the vacation shall begin from December-16 to February-28-2025.
Besides, the department had ordered that the teaching staff of Government High and Higher Secondary Schools shall remain available at respective Headquarters from 10th of February, 2025 onwards for preparatory arrangements for the ensuing Board Examinations of classes 10th, 11th and 12th.
