Tanvir Sadiq calls for inclusion of J&K in new tourism destinations, seeks special package

‘No charges for water usage’

Srinagar: National Conference (NC) leader Tanvir Sadiq Saturday urged the central government to ensure that Jammu and Kashmir is included among the 50 new tourism destinations announced recently.

Highlighting the region’s potential, he emphasized the need to promote medical tourism in J&K, given its status as a popular tourist hub.

“We expect Jammu and Kashmir to be a part of these new tourism destinations. There should also be a focus on medical tourism, and we hope a dedicated package will be announced for J&K,” Sadiq said as per news agency KINS, while reacting to the budget.

Speaking about employment and economic development, he called for a comprehensive financial package to support stakeholders, including traders, houseboat owners, and those associated with the tourism industry.

Sadiq also commented on the state budget, stating that the focus should be on community halls, roads, healthcare augmentation, and overall infrastructure development. He emphasized the need for people-friendly policies, particularly in the financial sector.

Additionally, he reassured the people of J&K that there would be no charges for water usage, as previously announced, and that meters would not be installed for domestic use. (KINS)
