‘Have patience’, says Omar Abdullah on Waqf (Amendment) Bill and UCC

Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday  called for patience and due process regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand.

Talking to reporters in Jammu on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, Omar according to news agency KINS stated, “No law is being implemented at the moment. Parliament’s committee is working on the matter, and the debate is still underway. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has presented his views to the committee. Let the committee complete its work, and after that, there will be a debate in Parliament.”

Regarding the UCC being implemented in Uttarakhand, Abdullah remarked, “Let them proceed with their plans. They may do what they want, but the final decision will be taken in Parliament. It won’t be decided by individual states or territories.” (KINS)
