Maid Arrested in Srinagar, Stolen Items Recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police in Srinagar have solved a theft case within hours by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen jewellery from her possession.

In a media statement issued to Asian Mail, a police spokesman said police station Shaltang received an application from one person namely Aimen Akhzar, daughter of Peerzada Akhzar Hussain, resident of Umerabad Srinagar, stating therein that during the intervening night of 15/16 January 2025, some unknown thieves have barged into her residential house while her mother and father were outside the country for performing Umrah and stolen some jewellery items.

He said a case vide FIR No. 04/2025 under relevant section of law has been registered in Police Station Shaltang and investigation initiated.

During the course of the investigation, some suspects were called for questioning and the role of one suspect namely Janatul Begum (working as the maid), wife of Mohd Chotu, resident of Ward No. 7 Kusthan Madhepur Bihar A/P HMT Srinagar was ascertained in the commission of crime. Upon her disclosure, the stolen Jewellery was recovered.
