Jammu : Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Jammu conducted a review meeting of the department’s financial and physical performance for the current financial year in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh regions.

During the meeting, it was reported that CBC has successfully organized a significant portion of the targeted Integrated Communication and Outreach Programs (ICOPs) in the region. Out of the total goal of 3 big, 6 medium, 16 small, and 24 mini ICOPs, the department has already conducted 1 big, 2 medium, 9 small, and 19 mini ICOPs, achieving approximately 65% of the target. Additionally, CBC is set to organize seven more Mini ICOPs in the region, including 3 in Kashmir, 2 in Udhampur and 1 each in Rajouri and Poonch.

The Director commended the field units for their achievement, especially given the challenges posed by the model code of conduct that came into effect twice in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

Deputy Director, Ayushi Puri, highlighted the department’s efforts, including the deployment of additional teams to cover the Ladakh region and organizing publicity programs in remote and border areas such as Turtuk, Kargil and Tangtse.

In Jammu, CBC successfully organized several ICOPs in various regions, including Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Akhnoor, Nowshera, Channi Prat, Rajouri, Doda, Padder, and Poonch. A notable event was the Jhiri Mela (Marh), a publicity program held over eight days that empowered thousands of people through the dissemination of key information.

It was informed in the meeting that CBC also contributed significantly during the Amarnath Yatra by coordinating with local administration to organize theme-based cultural programs at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu. The cultural troupes of the department, along with registered groups, performed approximately 228 theme-based programs, showcasing centrally sponsored schemes and highlighting the rich art and culture of Jammu & Kashmir.

Another key achievement highlighted was the performance of Private Registered Troupes (PRTs) from the J&K region at the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

The newly appointed Administrative Officer, O. P. Maurya was also welcomed to the CBC team on the occasion.
