Omar urged the PM to fulfill his promise of restoring statehood

Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfill his promises vis-à-vis restoring the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

In his inaugural address after the inauguration of Sonamarg tunnel, Omar Abdullah as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), praised PM Modi for fulfilling two of his promises out of three made during his speech in Srinagar after assuming the office last year for the third straight term.

“The two promises including the ‘Delhi ki Doori’ as well as the conducting assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir have been fulfilled by you,” Omar told PM Modi during his address and stated that the third promise of restoring the statehood is not been fulfilled yet and the people here including thee media persons usually ask him the question related to it. “My heart believes that the promise will also be fulfilled by you soon,” he said.

Earlier, the Chief Minister began his inaugural speech while remembering the seven persons including a doctor who were killed in an attack at Gagangeer in October last year. The seven persons were involved in the work of Sonamarg tunnel.

Omar stated that they sacrificed their lives for this project and the progress of this nation. “Unfortunately for the last 35 years, the people in J&K have sacrificed their lives for the progress of this nation. I belong to the party which has sacrificed a lot for this nation,” he said.

He added that presence of PM Modi this project is a clear message to those who don’t want progress of J&K, peace and democracy that they won’t get succeed and will have to face the defeat from here—(KNO)
