Illegal Timber Seized at Drung Crossing; Three Individuals Arrested: Police

Baramulla: Baramulla Police intercepted a Tata 207 vehicle carrying nine timber logs at Drung Crossing during naka checking. Upon inspection, it was revealed that the vehicle was transporting timber without the necessary permissions.
In a statement issued to Asian Mail, a police Official said that the vehicle, along with the illicit timber, has been seized, and three individuals involved in the act were arrested on the spot.
He further said that the arrested persons have been identified as Mehraj Ahmad Khan, Son of Ab Majeed Khan, Resident of Nowgam Khag, Mohammed Amin Lone, Son of Ab Gaffar Lone, Resident of Drung and Owais Ahmad Parrey, Son of Ab Ahad Parrey, Resident of Soibugh Budgam.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered by Baramulla Police under FIR No. 01/2025, invoking Section 26 of the Forest Act and Sections 303 and 329(1) of the Indian Penal Code in PS Tangmarg. Investigations are underway to determine the source and intended destination of the illegal timber.
