Two drug peddlers arrested; contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In a statement issued to Asian Mail,  a police official said that a police party during patrolling near JVC Hospital Bemina, intercepted one person coming from Children Hospital to JVC Hospital Srinagar who tried to flee upon seeing the Police party. However, he was tactfully apprehended by the patrolling party and he has been identified as Javid Ahmad Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone resident of Khargam Pattan A/P Mansoor Colony Bemina. During the search, 44 grams of charas like substance was recovered from his possession.

Likewise, a police party from PS Nowgam during domination on Pahroo Kenihama axis intercepted one personidentified as Reyaz Ahmed Shah son of Gulzar Ahmed Shah resident of Check-e-Pahroo at Ganjipora.  During the search, 39 Kgs of Cannabis Powder concealed in two nylon bags were recovered from his possession.

Meanwhile, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation initiated. Both the accused persons have been arrested.
