Advice people to drive slowly; all genuine demands of transporters will be looked into:- RTO

Srinagar: The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Kashmir, Qazi Irfan, conducted a surprise inspection at the Parimpora Bus Stand and the Board of Inspection, emphasizing road safety during the snowy season.

During this visit, he emphasized the importance of safe driving practices, especially in light of the current snowy conditions

Talking to the news agency—JKNS he urged motorists to avoid unnecessary travel during the coldest parts of the day and to stay updated on weather and traffic conditions.

He highlighted the importance of winter vehicle preparedness, recommending winter tires, antifreeze in coolant systems, and ensuring functional batteries, lights, and wipers.

For driving safety, the RTO advised slow driving, maintaining safe distances, avoiding sudden movements, and using low-beam headlights in fog. Motorcyclists were advised to wear thermal gear and anti-fog visors.

He also stressed carrying emergency kits, including blankets, first-aid supplies, snacks, and water. Helpline numbers (7780917148 and 9765079102) were provided for assistance.

These measures aim to mitigate risks on icy and slippery roads during the Valley’s freezing temperatures.

He said that during his visit transporters put forwarded few demands and they will be brought in notice of Deputy commissioner for resolution.—(JKNS)
