Div Com Kashmir reviews functioning of PHE Schemes

Srinagar:  The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the present status of drinking water supply across the Kashmir region and functioning of various PHE schemes.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Ganderbal and Baramulla; Chief Engineers of PHE and KPDCL, SSP Ganderbal, Wildlife Warden Sopore, DFOs of Tangmarg and Baramulla, SE, PHE Baramulla, Executive Engineers of PHE Tangmarg and Baramulla, SE KPDCL Ganderbal and Executive Engineer Mechanical  North Sopore.

At the outset, CE PHE through a presentation gave an overview of number of functional schemes, lift schemes, filtration plants, water tankers and other logistics that ensure supply of potable water to the people.

He mentioned that 13 Water Supply Schemes in District Baramulla have been affected due to recent snow fall in upper reaches mainly at Botapathri area.  “All the schemes have been restored as of now”, he maintained.

In this regard, Div Com instructed DC Baramulla to look into the issue of round the clock monitoring of these schemes by the PHE staff.

CE said that some disruptions of WSS were reported which were restored  immediately to their fullest capacity.

On the occasion, Div Com directed concerned for ensuring the regular supply of drinking water to the people by monitoring the functioning of all the schemes.

He also exhorted concerned officers of PHE to address grievances related to supply of drinking water in a time-bound manner.

Regarding, Parihaspora WSS, Div Com directed PHE & KPDCL Officers to ensure the functioning of the scheme by 15 January  2025.

On the issue of laying of pipes at Shadipora, Div Com directed SSP Ganderbal to look into the issue and get the matter resolved at the earliest.
