Stay Active This Winter: Kashmir’s renowned Endocrinologist  warns against the health risks of inactivity*

‘Stopping exercises completely leads to strokes, high Blood Pressure, heart attacks, Sugar spikes’

Srinagar : With winter in full swing, Dr. Shariq Masoodi, a prominent endocrinologist of Kashmir, today issued an important advisory on the dangers of physical inactivity during the colder months.
He cautioned that completely halting physical activities in winter could lead to serious health conditions such as brain hemorrhages, high blood pressure, heart attacks, and spikes in blood sugar levels.
“In Kashmir, the winter season often sees a shift in lifestyle, with people indulging in calorie-rich foods while significantly reducing their physical activity,” Dr. Masoodi noted. “This sedentary pattern can have dire consequences for overall health.” He highlighted that harsh weather conditions often deter people from outdoor activities, but this shouldn’t be an excuse for complete inactivity.
Dr. Masoodi strongly recommended incorporating light indoor exercises into daily routines to combat these risks. “Even simple activities like stretching, yoga, or brisk walking indoors can make a significant difference. Keeping your body active is vital for both physical and mental well-being,” he emphasized.
This timely reminder underscores the importance of staying active, even in challenging weather conditions, to ensure a healthier winter season. Dr. Masoodi’s advice encourages individuals to adapt their routines and prioritize their health, proving that a little effort each day can go a long way.
