Government determined to address every issue concerning public: Sakeena Itoo

Conducts extensive tour of Hazratbal Constituency, inspects healthcare facilities, educational institutions

Srinagar: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo today conducted extensive tour of Hazratbal Constituency of Srinagar district and inspected several institutions of public importance.
The tour, spanning several key health and educational institutions in Hazratbal like Sub District Hospital (SDH), Habbak, Government Middle School Habbak, NTPHC Zakura and Government School Zakura, was aimed to assess the condition of these public institutions and gather on-spot feedback for further improvements.
At SDH Zakura, the Minister held detailed inspection of the facility and assessed infrastructure, patient care facilities and medical equipments. She interacted with the medical staff, including doctors, nurses and technicians, to understand their concerns and requirements. The medical staff present on the occasion briefed the Minister about the facilities available at the facility and also highlighted intervention on several matters concerning the hospital.
She also discussed the issue of halt in construction of the additional block of the hospital. The Minister directed the DC Srinagar and VC LCMA to sort out the issues in coordination with other stakeholders and restart the work as soon as possible for timely completion of the project.
On the sidelines of visit to hospital, the Minister also addressed the gathering of local people.
During the address, Sakeena Itoo underlined the Omar Abdullah led Government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services to all citizens. “Our Government is of the people and for the people and we are determined to address every issue concerning public at large”, Sakeena said.
The Minister, in her address, also assured the locals that any shortcomings in the functioning of Sub District Hospital will be addressed promptly.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar assured the people that the Government is committed to address grievances and issues of people. He also brought several issues concerning the Hazratbal Constituency in the notice of Minister.
Afterwards, the Minister visited Government Middle School Habbak and reviewed the functioning of institution. She interacted with the school administration and took first-hand appraisal from them about the requirements at the institution.
The Minister, on the occasion, gave on-spot instructions to the Director School Education for initiating the process of upgrading the school. She also directed the authorities for immediate renovation of the school building.
Later, the Minister also inspected Mini Maternity Centre Zakura, NTPHC Zakura and Government School Zakura.
The Minister expressed displeasure on the defunct Mini Maternity Centre and directed the health authorities for immediate resumption of services at the centre as it caters to larger area including Ganderbal. She also directed them for renovation of building as well as deployment of staff at the Centre.
The Minister also gave instructions for deployment of a medical officer and paramedic staff at NTPHC Zakoora. She also gave directions for for initiating the process of upgrading Government School Zakoora to Higher Secondary level.
MLA, Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat; Principal GMC Srinagar, VC LMA, Director School Education Kashmir, Director Health Services Kashmir and other senior officers of district administration also accompanied the Minister during the tour.
