Srinagar Records Coldest Night of the Season at -0.4°C

Srinagar: Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season so far, with temperatures dropping to -0.4°C, as the region continues to experience chilly conditions amid the onset of winter. The drop in temperature was felt across various parts of Kashmir, with several areas recording sub-zero temperatures overnight.

In the southern district of Shopian, the mercury dipped to -3.9°C, while Pulwama recorded -3.4°C and Anantnag saw temperatures of -3.5°C. Larnoo, also in the south, recorded -3.2°C. Other areas in the valley also witnessed significant drops in temperature, with Bandipora at -2.4°C, Budgam at -2.1°C, and Tral at -1.4°C.

The cold snap has led to a sharp increase in the demand for warm clothing and heating appliances across the region. Local authorities have also issued advisories, urging people, especially those in higher altitudes, to take necessary precautions as temperatures are expected to continue to dip over the coming days.

The chilly weather conditions come as the region braces for further cold spells with the onset of winter, signaling the likely arrival of snowfall in the higher reaches soon.(CNS)
