Anantnag Police Arrest Two Notorious Drug Peddlers, Seize Significant Quantities of Illicit Drugs

Anantnag: Anantnag Police conducted two separate naka operations, resulting in the arrest of two notorious drug peddlers and the seizure of substantial quantities of illicit drugs.
In the first operation, a Police team from Police Station Srigufwara set up a naka near the ATM crossing in Sallar. During the operation, they intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Fareed Ahmad Shah, son of Dilawar Shah, a resident of Sheikhpora, Sallar. Upon noticing the Police, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the alert personnel. A search of the nylon bag he was carrying led to the recovery of 3.250 kg of illicit cannabis powder. The accused was arrested, and the contraband was seized on the spot.
In the second operation, a Police team from Police Station Ashmuqam conducted a naka at Peer Mohalla, Ashmuqam. They intercepted a suspect, Mehraj Din Sheikh, son of Gh. Rasool, a resident of Sheikh Mohalla, Ashmuqam. Upon questioning and subsequent search, around 5.700 kg of cannabis husk was recovered from his possession. The accused was promptly arrested, and the contraband seized.
Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at Police Station Srigufwara and Police Station Ashmuqam, and further investigations are underway.
Anantnag Police remain committed to intensifying efforts against drug trafficking to safeguard the health and well-being of the community.
