Adequate winter preparedness in place, no need to worry, says Div Com Kashmir

Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir V K Bidhuri has assured the public of comprehensive winter preparedness, stating that the administration is well-equipped to handle any situation during the harsh winter months.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here, he said that measures are in place to ensure seamless connectivity and uninterrupted essential services.

He highlighted that the administration has sufficient reserves of essential supplies, including diesel and petrol, to sustain operations for up to seven days in case of unforeseen circumstances.

“There is no need to worry. We have ensured ample preparedness, and even during strikes or emergencies, the situation will remain under control,” he said, according to news agency KINS.

Speaking about the safety of children using scooters, he urged parents to prioritize their children’s security. “Parents must ensure the safety of their children. We are taking action to address this issue and organizing programs to create awareness,” he said.

The Divisional Commissioner also lauded the efforts of the Archaeology and Archives Department for preserving Kashmir’s rich history.

He encouraged people to take pride in their heritage, which he said is key to progress.

“We must be proud of our history and showcase it to future generations. Initiatives under the Smart City Project, such as retrofitting and illuminating historic buildings, reflect our commitment to preserving heritage,” he said.

On winter readiness, he reassured people about the administration’s proactive approach to managing snowfall and maintaining essential services.

He said that recent rainfall had improved water availability and would enhance electricity production during the winter months.

“We are closely monitoring electricity production and distribution, and our teams remain on high alert to ensure uninterrupted power and road connectivity during the harsh winter,” he stated.

“We are on our toes and will ensure smooth winter operations. There is no need to worry,” he added. (KINS)
