Secretary RDD urges swift PMAY-G implementation, stresses on target achievement, completion of houses

FTOs of all completed houses to be pushed within 5 days

Installments gaps being reduced significantly in time-bound manner

Srinagar:  Secretary, Rural Development (RDD) and Panchayati Raj, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, today chaired a meeting to assess the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) across Jammu and Kashmir.
The review focused on several important components, including the SECC Physical Progress, the Awasplus Physical Progress Reports for FY 2021-22 and FY 2023-24, and the status of land allotments to landless AwasPlus beneficiaries.
Secretary RD&PR directed officials to improve implementation rates and ensure that the housing scheme achieve its targets.
He also highlighted the need for meticulous financial planning to support ongoing houses, stressing that the allocation and utilization of funds should align with the program’s goals.
In a strong message, Secretary RDD announced that he would hold bi-weekly reviews to closely monitor the scheme’s progress.
He warned officials that inadequate performance would lead to “serious consequences,” with accountability enforced at both block and district levels.
Secretary RDD directed both the directors to conduct weekly assessments, setting specific goals for Fund Transfer Orders(FTOs) generation and completion of under construction houses.
Expressing concern over the pace of expenditure and completion, Aijaz Asad pointed out that only 30% of last year’s allocated funds have been utilized.
He called for a detailed completion schedule for November, December, and January to prevent delays, instructing officials to ensure timely completion of houses.
The Secretary emphasized the need for proactive management and urged the administration to intensify monitoring efforts, especially at the block level and Panchayat level.
He stressed the importance of transparent reporting and warned against favoritism in administrative duties.
Secretary RDD announced that performance would be monitored through various channels, including video verification, to ensure authenticity in reporting and consistency in performance.
He instructed all Assistant Commissioners Development (ACDs) to ensure regular tracking of the scheme’s progress.
The meeting was attended by Director RDD Kashmir, Shabir Hussain Bhat, Director RDD Jammu Mohammad Mumtaz Ali, Director Finance Umar Khan, Joint Director Planning, Kamal Kumar, Additional Secretary, Kartar Singh and all the Assistant Commissioners of Development (ACDs) of Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
