Workshop Cum Awareness Programme held at DC Office Complex Srinagar

Citizen participation imperative in eradication of corrupt practices at all levels: DC Srinagar

Says reformative measures paramount to end such anti-poor, anti-development and anti-economic activity

Srinagar: In connection with the week-long Vigilance Awareness campaign, an awareness programme themed “CULTURE OF INTEGRITY FOR THE NATION’S PROSPERITY,” was held at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex here today.

The programme was organised by Anti-Corruption Bureau Srinagar in collaboration with District Administration Srinagar in which Officers and Officials of Revenue and Custodian Department Srinagar participated

Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat-was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Addressing the awareness programme, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need and importance to provide the hassle free services to the public by avoiding much of direct inter face between the office bearers and public. He laid emphasis on upholding the moral and ethical values while delivering their official duties.

The DC lauded the organizers and added that such programmes  enhance transparency, reinforce ethical governance, and combat corruption.

The DC also underscored that citizens participation is imperative in eradication of corrupt practices at all levels and people must also be made aware about the ill effects of corruption and reformative measures need to be taken to end such anti-poor, anti-development and anti-economic activity.

On the onset of the program documentary recently launched by the ACB Jammu and Kashmir was screened to make the participants aware of the working of ACB, initiatives taken and call to work together to fight against menace of corruption jointly.

Illustrating its Anti Corruption efforts and strategies for promoting accountability, special message made on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week-2024 were screened reinforcing the importance of integrity and transparency in governance.

Officers from the Anti-Corruption Bureau P/S Srinagar, including SSP ACB Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Wani also deliberated on measures to address corruption-prone areas in Revenue and Custodian Departments and the role of investigative techniques in implementing corrective and penal measures effectively.

This session continued the interactive approach, soliciting feedback from participants through questionnaires viz “ APP” to gauge awareness and gather suggestions for improving anti-corruption initiatives.

Earlier, the participants were given a detailed PowerPoint presentation on corruption and its impacts on society.

The program concluded with vote of thanks presented by Inspector Yasir  Ahmad and a pledge ceremony, where the participants committed to actively combating corruption and upholding ethical standards in public service.

Among others, the programme witnessed the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Khalid Hussain Malik, Officers from Revenue, Custodian  and ACB Srinagar.
