Vigilance Awareness Week in Kashmir

Integrity Pledge Ceremonies held across Districts

Shopian: In alignment with the nationwide Vigilance Awareness Week being observed from October 28 to November 3, 2024, a comprehensive Conference was held today at the Mini Secretariat, Shopian, under the theme ‘Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity.’

The event, presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone and organised by District Administration Shopian in collaboration with the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) brought together a diverse array of participants including employees, civil society members traders etc reflecting a strong commitment to promoting transparency and accountability within society.

The programme was structured in two shifts to encourage extensive participation across various sectors. During the inaugural session, a solemn pledge-taking ceremony was conducted as part of the event, with participants committing to upholding integrity and combat corruption in their respective spheres. The pledge was administered by ADDC.

On the occasion, Book Release function was also held wherein a Book titled ‘Anti-Corruption Laws & Regulations,’ compiled by Dr.Zakir Hussain Faaz, ADC Shopian, also District Vigilance Officer (DVO) was released to enhance awareness and provide guidance on legal frameworks aimed at curbing corruption.

Addressing the gathering, speakers emphasized the detrimental impact of corruption on societal progress and underscored the importance of collective action in rooting out this menace.

ADDC stressed the role of education in inculcating essential moral values for nurturing a prosperous and progressive society, devoid of corrupt practices.

The role of stakeholders in furthering a culture of integrity was also emphasized on the occasion by ADC Shopian and other speakers from ACB.

The programme concluded with a call to all participants and community members to uphold ethical standards and contribute to building a corruption-free society.

District and Sectoral Officers, sub divisional officers, Tehsil officers also organised pledge taking ceremonies at their respective offices across the district.

Ganderbal: 

The District Administration Ganderbal today organised a massive awareness programme in the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Ganderbal to mark the celebrations of Vigilance Awareness Week.

The programme was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gulzar Ahmad, District Officers, sectoral officers, field functionaries, Civil Society members and prominent citizens.

During the awareness programme, participants exchanged ideas regarding perils of corruption and measures to combat this menace. The speakers highlighted the role of civil society in eradication of corruption.

On the occasion integrity pledge was administered to all participants. All the participants pledged to work together to eradicate corruption and oppose all forms of corruption and foster a culture of honesty and integrity. They also pledged to act in public interest and protect rights and interests of stakeholders and the society at large.

The observance of Vigilance Awareness Week is taken up to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of corruption. The celebrations also encourage stakeholders to fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by corruption.

Kupwara:

In observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, 2024, a pledge ceremony was conducted on Monday through video conference from Meeting Hall of 3rd floor, Civil secretariat Srinagar, where Hon’ble Chief Minister (J&K), Omer Abdullah administered the integrity pledge to public servants and other stakeholders.

District level officers and HODs of district administration Kupwara participated in the pledge ceremony through videoconferencing from the meeting Hall of DC Office Complex Kupwara and took the integrity pledge.

Integrity pledge was also administered at Additional Deputy Commissioner’s Office at Handwara, SDM Office Sogam Lolab, SDM Office Karnah and other district and sectoral offices.

Meanwhile a vigilance awareness workshop in observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, 2024 was organized by ACB (Govt. of J&K) in collaboration with district administration Kupwara.

This year, Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from October 28 to November 3 on the theme “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity”.

The workshop was organized to raise awareness among government employees, general public and whistle blowers about the perils of corruption and the importance of integrity and ethics in public service.

Principal Government Degree College (Boys) Kupwara, Professor Abdul Rashid presided over the workshop which was attended by Dy.Sp ACB Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmed, General Public, RTI Activists, Social Activists, traders, transporters, vendors and officers of District Administration Kupwara.

Day long Vigilance awareness workshop was conducted to educate individuals about the importance of ethical behavior and to encourage reporting of any wrongdoing. It plays a vital role in maintaining clean and ethical governance.

During the workshop, the venue at Meeting Hall of DC Office Kupwara was connected via video conference to the main venue at IMPARD Srinagar.

Baramulla

The Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 was observed in Baramulla today with great enthusiasm, underlining the district administration’s commitment to fostering transparency, accountability, and integrity in all aspects of governance.

The week-long observance commenced with Integrity Pledge ceremonies held across the district, encompassing sub-divisional and tehsil offices. These pledge-taking events, led by district and sub-divisional officers, witnessed active participation from government employees, community representatives, and various stakeholders.

The pledge emphasized dedication to honest conduct, a zero-tolerance approach toward corruption, and the collective responsibility to uphold a culture of integrity. This year’s theme, “Say No to Corruption; Commit to Integrity”, resonated deeply with officials and citizens alike.

The week will also feature various awareness programs and activities to further the message of integrity across Baramulla. Workshops, debates, marathons, painting competitions and public discussions on ethical governance and anti-corruption measures are scheduled, particularly targeting youth and community leaders to foster a vigilant society.

These initiatives are designed to encourage active public engagement in the fight against corruption, ensuring that the spirit of Vigilance Awareness Week extends beyond government offices and permeates the community.

With these concerted efforts, the district administration Baramulla reiterates its commitment to a corruption-free, transparent governance framework that aligns with the values of justice and integrity.

Kulgam:

Vigilance Awareness Week, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in collaboration with the District Administration Kulgam today organized an awareness programme at the Auditorium Hall of DC office Kulgam.

The programme was presided over by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kulgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, and attended by, ACD, ACP, Tehsildar Kulgam, Tehsildar HQA besides other District officers and officials from different departments.

Addressing the gathering, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kulgam, Dy-SP ACB, Narinder Singh and other officers emphasized the importance of collective participation in the fight against corruption.

They highlighted the measures taken to prioritize accountability, transparency and zero tolerance against corruption.

The programme aimed to raise awareness among the public about the existence, causes and gravity of corruption, and the agencies responsible for dealing with corrupt practices.
