Dr Hina asks for prioritizing cases of women, marginal segments of society
Jammu: Chairperson J&K KVIB, Dr Hina Shafi Bhat, today presided over bankers review meeting of Jammu division at Jammu.
Senior officers from Board, officers from participating banks and district officers of KVIB Jammu division attended the meeting.
The meeting emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in bolstering successful implementation of various employment generation programmes of the board.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Bhat reiterated that government is committed to provide employment opportunities to the aspirant entrepreneurs/unemployed youth to ensure sustainable development in JK. She added that employment generation programmes like PMEGP and JKREGP have been devised to encourage entrepreneurship, empowering individuals to start their businesses and contribute towards economic diversification.
Dr Bhat expressed confidence in the commitment of the financial institutions in successful implementation of employment generation programmes. She, however, cautioned the banks to refrain from rejecting cases on flimsy grounds.
Referring to large number of cases pending in the financing banks, she advised the bankers to issue directions to such financing bank branches to process the cases as per timelines fixed in the guidelines. She impressed upon the bankers to give preferential treatment to the aspirants belonging to women and marginal sections of the society and process their cases on priority.
The Chairperson emphasized the need for improved collaboration among the bankers and implementing agencies to ensure that the benefits of employment generation programmes like PMEGP and JKREGP percolate to the target population.
