Railways Announces 60-Day Limit for Train Ticket Bookings

New Delhi: In a significant move to streamline train ticket bookings, the Ministry of Railways has announced a reduction in the time limit for advance reservations.
As per a notification issued on 16th October 2024, the existing advance reservation period (ARP) of 120 days will be shortened to 60 days, effective from 1st November 2024.
From 1st November, passengers will be able to book tickets up to 60 days in advance, excluding the date of journey. Bookings made under the current ARP of 120 days, however, will remain valid.
Cancellations for bookings made beyond the 60-day limit will still be allowed.
The change will not affect certain day-time express trains, like Taj Express and Gomti Express, which have lower advance reservation limits in place.
The 365-day booking limit for foreign tourists remains unchanged.
According to the notification, the decision is aimed at making train ticket bookings more convenient and accessible for passengers.—(News Vibes of india)
