MP, Er. Rashid reviews Jal Shakti Department Works in Baramulla PC

Issues directives for timely completion of WSS & addressing any bottlenecks hindering water supply

Baramulla: The Member Parliament (MP), Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, Er. Abdul Rashid today chaired a meeting at Dak Bungalow Baramulla to review the works under the Jal Shakti Department across the Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency.

The meeting was attended by the Member District Development Council, Muzaffar Ahmad; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina; Chief Engineer, PHE Jal Shakti Kashmir, Sanjeev Malhotra; Chief Planning Officer Baramulla, Executive Engineers from all PHE divisions of Baramulla, Kupwara, and Budgam, and members of the civil society.

At the outset, the Chief Engineer provided a comprehensive update of the schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Baramulla PC, informing the chair that more than 85% of the households have been provided potable tap water connections under the slogan ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal.’

It was further reported that work on the remaining 15% of the schemes is progressing rapidly, with the goal of providing every household with a water connection at home, as envisioned under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

The MP conducted a division-wise review of the ongoing schemes under the Jal Shakti Department, emphasising the critical importance of completing these projects within the stipulated time frames to ensure that the intended benefits of these schemes reach the general public.

The meeting also discussed various issues that are incurred in the execution of water supply schemes (WSS) projects, and it was informed that significant strides are being made in expediting the completion of pending work with an effort aiming to bring about potable water at the disposal of the wider society.

Speaking on the occasion, Er. Rashid directed the officers from the Jal Shakti department to coordinate effectively with Forest, Revenue and other departments to resolve any existing bottlenecks delaying the execution of any WSS for achieving the ambitious goal of 100% saturation as outlined by the JJM.

Meanwhile, the  MP impressed on the officers to expedite the work on filtration plants that are under construction across the Baramulla PC, directing them to ensure timely delivery without any delays.

Additionally, he instructed the officers to conduct site visits following the completion of the projects. He stressed the importance of on-site assessments to identify and resolve any issues that may be hindering the continuous supply of water.
