Proper Relations with Centre Will Be Good for J&K, People Have Not Voted for Fights: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that maintaining good relations with the Centre is important for the benefit of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters, Omar said that the newly-formed government in J&K should focus on coordination with New Delhi rather than engaging in conflicts.

“Let the government be formed”, Omar said, adding that it will be the responsibility of the Chief Minister to work with the Centre.

He also said that the issues and difficulties of J&K won’t be resolved by fighting with Delhi. “While we have a rivalry with the BJP, it is not our compulsion to fight with the Centre.”

Omar said that the people of J&K voted for progress, statehood, jobs, and solutions to pressing issues like power supply, rather than political battles. “I believe maintaining proper relations with the Centre will be beneficial for J&K and its people. They did not vote for fights but for development,” he added. (KNS)
