BJP Will Prefer Central Rule If No Government is Formed: Omar to Engineer Rashid

Srinagar : Vice president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah stated on Monday that if political parties are unable to form a government, the BJP would prefer to extend central rule.

His comments followed North Kashmir MP Engineer Rashid’s advice to parties and independents expected to win on October 8, suggesting they postpone government formation until the Centre restores statehood to J&K.

While responding to Engineer’s suggestion, Omar in a post on ‘X’ said that “The man goes to Delhi for 24 hours and comes back to play straight in to the hands of the BJP. The BJP would like nothing more than to extend central rule in J&K if they aren’t in a position to form a government”

With exit polls indicating a hung assembly for 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir, all eyes are now on the actual results, which will be announced tomorrow, October 8.

Voters in Jammu and Kashmir cast ballots in three phases: on September 18, September 25, and October 1. This year’s three-phase elections resulted in an overall voter participation of 63.45%.
