Srinagar: : The Chief General Secretary of Samajwadi Party in Mk, Khalid Tufail, has strongly criticized the Central government’s decision to appoint five seats in Jammu & Kashmir, a move to be exercised by the Lieutenant Governor.
In a pointed rebuke, Tufail described the decision as a grave encroachment on the democratic fabric of the region, undermining the legitimacy of the recently concluded elections.
“This action threatens to turn the entire electoral process into a mere charade, erasing the fundamental essence of democracy,’ he remarked.
Tufail further stressed that such authoritarian decisions blatantly disregard the people’s mandate, casting serious doubt on the credibility of the electoral process. He warned that these imposed appointments would effectively silence the voice of the electorate, reducing their votes to insignificance.
He also called upon the INDIA Alliance to stand resolute in its commitment to keeping the BJP out of power in J&K.
“Strategic unity is essential to safeguarding the interests of the people and ensuring that both their votes and the democratic process are truly honored,” he concluded.
