According to UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) continues to fulfill its mandate, adjusting its posture and activities in response to the “dangerous developments.” UNIFIL peacekeepers maintain presence at all bases and observation posts along the Blue Line, which separates Lebanon and Israel. However, vehicular patrols along the Line have been suspended since Tuesday.
The UN Department of Peace Operations and UNIFIL closely engage with troop-contributing countries, updating them on developments and contingency planning. Contingency plans are in place in case the situation worsens.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed gratitude to troop-contributing countries, including India, Nepal, and others, for their commitment to UNIFIL. Guterres condemned the escalating Middle East conflict, urging a ceasefire.
