Interim Bail Extension for MP Er Rashid

Srinagar: Engineer Rashid, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) supremo and Member of Parliament from North Kashmir, has been granted an extension of his interim bail until October 12, 2024, by the Patiala House Court in New Delhi ¹ ². This extension allows him additional time out on bail, postponing his scheduled surrender and return to Tihar Jail on October 3.

Rashid, a former two-time MLA from Langate seat in north Kashmir, has been in jail since 2019 in a terror-funding case ¹. His interim bail was initially granted until October 2, enabling him to campaign in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.

In a X post, AIP Chief Spokesperson, Inam Un Nabi said, “AIP Supremo and MP North Kashmir Er Rashid’s interim bail has been extended till 12th October 2024 by Patiala House Court, New-Delhi. ”
“We express our gratitude to the judiciary and a special thanks to our lawyer Vikhyat Oberoi for his relentless efforts. Er Rashid remains committed to serving the people of Jammu & Kashmir, especially to the people of Parliamentary Constituency Baramulla,” he further added.
