ECI establishes 240 Special Polling Stations established in Phase III

Jammu: With an aim to ensure that every eligible voter exercise his democratic right, the Election Commission of India has established 240 special polling stations in third and final phase of Assembly Election in Jammu and Kashmir.

This necessitated the establishment of these special polling booths in the UT which had really significant impact in the whole election process”, maintained the J&K Chief Electoral Officer, Pandurang K Pole.

The CEO asserted that these special polling stations are theme-based, and in some areas, efforts were made to go the extra mile to reach voters and maximize participation. The decorated booths, fundamental to the entire election process, play a significant role in making the festival of democracy a success, he added. He said that these innovative polling stations, such as women-managed, youth-managed, Green Polling Stations, Model Polling Stations, Border and Unique Polling Stations, were designed to cater specifically to women, youth, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), promote eco-friendly practices, ensure inclusive and accessible election and accommodate the voters of different kinds in the region.
