PM Modi Meets Ukraine’s Zelenskyy in New York, Reaffirms India’s Support for Peace

New York, USA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session. This marked their third meeting in three months, underscoring India’s commitment to resolving the ongoing Ukraine conflict.

In a post on X, PM Modi shared photos of him meeting President Zelenskyy and said, “Met President Zelenskyy in New York. We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations. Reiterated India’s support for early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and restoration of peace and stability.”

PM Modi reaffirmed India’s support for an early resolution to the Ukraine conflict and restoration of peace and stability in the region. He emphasized the need for dialogue and diplomacy to address the ongoing tensions.

The leaders engaged in fruitful discussions on bilateral issues, focusing on strengthening economic ties, cultural exchange, and people-to-people connections. President Zelenskyy appreciated India’s attention to the conflict and thanked PM Modi for his efforts towards peace.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri briefed the media on the meeting, stating that President Zelenskyy was very appreciative of India’s attention to these issues. “The Prime Minister’s visit to Ukraine last month was highly appreciated,” he added. Misri noted that both sides agreed to remain in close touch, either directly or through exchanges of visits at various levels.

During his US visit, PM Modi addressed thousands of Indian-Americans at the ‘Modi&US’ community event in Long Island, emphasizing the strength of India-US ties. He also held bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden at the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware. Additionally, PM Modi met top US tech leaders and CEOs in a roundtable conference, exploring collaborations in emerging technologies.

PM Modi’s meeting with President Zelenskyy demonstrates India’s diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, strengthen bilateral relations with Ukraine, and foster cooperation on global issues. This meeting reinforces India’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and its growing role in international diplomacy.
