Cong manifesto anti-farmer, anti-Jammu: Sukhnandan

BJP increased farmers’ income by 70%, will go up to 100% by next year

Jammu: The Vice Chairman of BJP Election Campaign Committee & former Minister, Ch Sukhnandan, on Tuesday said that the manifesto of the Congress is anti-farmer and anti-Jammu, while the BJP increased farmers’ income by 70% and it would be doubled with 1 or 2 years.

“In the Congress manifesto, there is no mention of Jammu and only Kashmir has been given priority,” Sukhnandan said, while adding, “Cong manifesto says that Kashmir’s apple will be bought at Rs 72 per kg but there is no talk of Jammu’s apple and Basmati rice”.

This sharp criticism of the Cong manifesto came from Sukhnandan during a press conference at BJP media center, here today. BJP Spokesman YV Sharma, Media Incharge Dr Pardeep Mahotra and senior leader HS Pummy were also present in the press conference.

“Kashmir depends on Horticulture and Jammu depends on agriculture but there is no mention of agriculture in the Cong manifesto which shows Cong Party’s anti-Jammu mindset,” Sukhnandan said, while adding, “Cong always discriminated against farmers of Jammu”.

During Congress rule, there used to be no toll on apples from Kashmir but the toll was there on Basmati of Jammu, he said, and added, “We gave Minimum Support Price (MSP) and also opened mandis for farmers of Jammu, which were closed during Cong rule”.

Sukhnandan also accused the Cong of providing adulterated fertilizers and urea to the farmers. “During Cong rule adulterated and duplicate urea and fertilizers were provided to the farmers,” he said and added, “BJP Government ensured good quality supply of fertilizers and urea to the farmers at subsidized rates”.

The BJP Government also provided subsidies on pump sets and the power bills of the farmers will also be cut down by 50%, he said. Sukhnandan also said that BJP will form its government in J&K on its own and farmers will be given Rs 10000 under ‘Kissan Nidhi Yojna’.
