Article 370’s Abrogation Was Not an Act of God, but a Decision by Parliament: Omar

Srinagar: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah stated on Tuesday that the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, was not an act of divine intervention but a decision made by Parliament. He expressed hope that it could be restored in the future.

Speaking to reporters, he said that if a five-judge bench had ruled that the abrogation was democratic, a seven-judge bench in the future might oppose it and favor its restoration.

Targeting the BJP, he said the party’s claim that peace prevails in Jammu and Kashmir is a complete lie. He noted that militancy has risen in the Jammu region over the past few years, with militant attacks being witnessed throughout Jammu.

The former Chief Minister of Kashmir said that during the NC government’s tenure, there was peace in Jammu and Kashmir. In contrast, he claimed that the BJP has done nothing to address the situation, with militancy now visible throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
