J&K Political Parties Failed to Solve People’s Basic Problems: Valley’s Sikh Body, ‘Harping on Kashmir Issue’

Hits out at traditional parties’ dynastic politics

Srinagar: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee Kashmir (APSCC) Kashmir on Monday castigated the mainstream political parties of J&K for “harping on centuries-old traditional issues like Kashmir issue” and “failing to solve the basic problems of people, including rising unemployment”.

As per the news agency CNS, these remarks were made by APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina while addressing a public gathering in the Nanak area at Jammu.

Raina said that all the political parties know it fully well that there are more than one lakh vacancies in different government departments, with no step whatsoever taken to fill these vacancies.

“The political parties of Jammu & Kashmir only believe in rehabilitation of their dear ones. Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah thrusted his son Dr. Farooq Abdullah on the people of this UT. Later Dr. Farooq Abdullah passed on the baton to his son Omar Abdullah. Now the sons of Omar are taking part in election rallies and the stage is set for them. On the other hand, the unemployed youth continue to suffer and they are unable to feed their families,” said Raina.

The APSCC Chairman said that like the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is also practicing dynastic politics in Jammu & Kashmir.

He said PDP founder Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed introduced his daughter Mehbooba Mufti so that no outsider would assume an important post in the party. “The third generation of the Mufti family has plunged into electoral politics as Iltija Mufti, daughter of Mehbooba, is fighting the elections from the Bijbehara assembly seat. On one side the political parties are busy in rehabilitation of their kith and kin while the educated, unemployed youth continue to be jobless. The regional parties while being in power did nothing to address the burning issue of unemployment with people being the ultimate sufferers,” said Raina.

The APSCC Chairman said the youth should remain vigilant in the upcoming assembly elections and vote for candidates who can solve their problems.

He asked the youth not to be misguided by the fake slogans of the traditional parties and instead give a chance to new people who are able to come to their rescue.

Raina said that sectors like tourism, fishing, floriculture, the silk industry and others can provide jobs to the youth but for the same is the willpower of the people at the helm which is missing.

He said that APSCC has a blueprint for addressing the unemployment issue of the youth of Jammu & Kashmir.
