J&K Police Committed to Secure Polls, Says IGP Kashmir

Srinagar: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, VK Birdi, on Monday assured that the Jammu and Kashmir police are fully committed to ensuring secure polls through an elaborate security plan.

This will enable maximum voter turnout and facilitate people to cast their votes freely, he said during an exclusive interaction with KNS.

Birdi highlighted the multi-tier security arrangements in place, involving various agencies like the J&K police armed wing, executive, and CRPF. Quick Response Teams (QRTs), Special Response Teams (SRTs), and inter-district Nakas have been made more effective to ensure seamless security.

The IGP emphasized that a three-tier arrangement has been put in place to guarantee the safe movement of security forces, security at booths, and polling stations.

“We are committed to providing a secure environment for the polls,” Birdi said. “Our multi-tier security plan is designed to ensure that voters can exercise their franchise without any fear or intimidation.”
