Minibus accident in Kathua: One dead, 22 injured

Kathua: A tragic accident occurred today when a minibus, bearing registration number JK08B 9038, skidded off the road and fell down a hillock in Dhar Dugnu (Seeri) around 0940 hours.

The incident resulted in the death of a nine-year-old boy and injuries to 22 other passengers.

An official told news agency—Kashmir Bulletin (KB), that the minibus was negotiating the hilly terrain in Billawar Tehsil when it slipped out of control, rolled down, and fell into a valley. It was then that the villagers and rescue teams reached the site and pulled out the injured ones from the smashed minibus.

Unfortunately, he said that, nine-year-old Ankesh Kumar, son of Darshan Singh, was brought dead to Sub-District Hospital Billawar.

This tragic incident once again underlines the pressing requirement for the implementation of better safety precautions on rural roads.
