Encounters Continue Despite Removal of Article 370, PM Misleading People: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for diverting attention from the real issues in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters, Omar questioned the government’s promises made after the abrogation of Article 370, adding that militant attacks continue despite claims that its removal would bring peace.

“Today, an attack is still going on in North Kashmir, and the Prime Minister talks about families to mislead people. Let’s talk about the present situation. When Article 370 was removed, people were told the gun was in Kashmir because of it. It’s been five years since its removal, and encounters are still happening,” Omar said.

He also pointed out that two soldiers had been killed in a recent militant attack, adding that the Prime Minister should address the current security situation rather than focusing on past political alliances.

Omar urged the people to read the National Conference’s manifesto and vote for the party in the upcoming elections.
