Cyber  Police  Issues Advisory Urging Social Media Users to Avoid Spreading Misinformation

Srinagar: Cyber Police Kashmir issued an advisory urging social media users and WhatsApp group admins to avoid misinformation on Thursday.

The advisory emphasized the need for responsible online behavior, warning against the dissemination of unverified or false information that could lead to unnecessary panic among the public.

Ina X post, Cyber Police said that “Posting or sharing unverified or unconfirmed news can lead to unnecessary panic and misinformation among the public. Refrain from spreading rumors or misinformation,” the advisory stated, urging all users to exercise caution before sharing content online.

“Group Admins are responsible for ensuring the content shared in WhatsApp groups is authentic and verified. Violating this can result in legal action under the IT Act. Stay informed, stay responsible!” Cyber Police added.
