Rahul Gandhi to Hold Rallies in Ramban, Anantnag for J&K Polls

Srinagar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will begin the party’s campaign for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections by holding two public rallies in the Ramban and Anantnag districts.

These rallies are scheduled to support Congress candidates for the first phase of the elections on September 18.

Tariq Hamid Karra, head of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), confirmed that Gandhi will travel from New Delhi to Jammu. His first rally will support Vikar Rasool Wani, a former chief of the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit, who is running for the Banihal assembly seat.

Gandhi will then travel to Anantnag to address another rally in support of Congress General Secretary and former minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir, who is contesting the Dooru assembly segment.

The visit is expected to enhance the party’s outreach and influence its election prospects. The National Conference and Congress have agreed on a seat-sharing arrangement, with the National Conference contesting 51 seats and Congress 32 seats.

The parties will compete in five seats and have allocated one seat each to the CPI(M) and the Panthers Party.

Gandhi will return to Delhi in the evening after his visit to Srinagar.
