Restoration of Article 370 First Step Towards Autonomy: Ruhullah

Seeks Explanation for Sudden Transfers in Poll-Bound J&K
Asian Mail
Srinagar :National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah Mehdi on Saturday stated that the restoration of Article 370 is not the ultimate goal, but rather the first step towards achieving autonomy.

Addressing a press conference, Mehdi emphasized, “The NC has a clear roadmap for autonomy, unlike other parties.”
He also appealed to the Service Selection Board, saying, “Review the examination centers to ensure candidates receive centers close to their residences for adequate preparation time.”

Mehdi questioned the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) decision, saying, “We wonder why these transfers are taking place when we are about to see polls and when the Model Code of Conduct is in place.” The NC has written to the ECI seeking an explanation for these transfers, which Mehdi believes, “attempt to tamper with the level playing field promised to political parties.”

He criticized the PDP, saying, “They claim to be working for the resolution of the Kashmir issue, but where is the solution? We have promised in our manifesto to fight for the restoration of what has been snatched from us, including Article 370. We believe Kashmir is a political issue that needs to be resolved politically.”
Mehdi added, “We have a resolution in the form of autonomy, let PDP come up with a resolution.”
