Ramban: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Farooq Ahmed, Girdawar of Sanasar area of District Ramban, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹40,000.

In a statement issued to Asian Mail, an official said that the ACB received a written complaint alleging that Ahmed demanded ₹60,000 as a bribe to process the complainant’s Fard case, required for the sale of their land. “After negotiation, the deal was settled for ₹40,000,” reads the statement.

A trap team was constituted, and Ahmed was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant. He was arrested on the spot, and the bribe money was recovered from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses, reads the statement.
The ACB is conducting further investigations into the case. This arrest highlights the ACB’s commitment to rooting out corruption and ensuring accountability among public servants.
