Muzaffer Beigh Welcomes Jamat’s Decision to Contest Elections

Srinagar: Former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffer Beigh has welcomed the Jamat’s decision to participate in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections, calling it a crucial move for the region’s healing and progress.

Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Beigh said, “I welcome the Jamat’s decision to contest the upcoming elections. This is a significant and positive step that will go a long way to heal the social and political scars suffered by the people of Jammu & Kashmir in its recent past.”

He said that democratic participation is vital for achieving social and economic justice, adding, “Democratic participation is the best way to fight for social and economic justice. The Jamat in J&K is notable for its contribution in social, religious, and educational spheres.”

Beigh also said that the Jamat’s involvement will add legitimacy to the democratic process and contribute to peace and progress in the Union Territory. “Their participation lends greater legitimacy to the democratic process and portends well for peace and progress in the UT,” he stated.

He expressed his commitment to advocating for the Jamat, saying, “I will use whatever influence I have to plead for the ban on the Jamat to be lifted as soon as practicable.”
