Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Attend BPR&D’s 54th Foundation Day Celebrations

New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will be the Chief Guest at the 54th Foundation Day celebrations of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) tomorrow. Shah will deliver the Dr. Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial Lecture on “New Criminal Law – Citizen Centric Reforms” and honor recipients of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service and Meritorious Service for 2023 and 2024.

During the event, Shah will also release a special edition of the “Indian Police Journal” focusing on new criminal laws. The celebration is part of BPR&D’s commitment to transforming Indian Police Forces into SMART forces, equipping them with necessary resources to meet policing and internal security challenges.

BPR&D, established in 1970, serves as the think tank for Indian Police, fostering excellence in policing through research and development. The institute focuses on developing policies, exploring new technologies, capacity building, and promoting cooperation between states and central police organizations.

The ceremony will be attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director General of Central Armed Police Forces, heads of central police organizations, and senior officials from the Home Ministry and other departments.
