Former Hurriyat Leader’s Son: Aga Syed Muntazir Joins PDP, Boosting Party in Budgam

Srinagar: Aga Syed Muntazir, son of a former Hurriyat leader, joined the People’s Democratic Party officially in Budgam in a significant political shift ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections.

Aga Syed Muntazir hails from Budgam and represents the Aga family, which is one of the most prestigious families in Budgam. This family is loved and respected by the people at large in Jammu and Kashmir, as his father, Aga Syed Hassan, is the president of Anjuman-e-Shriya Shian.

The announcement took place in a jam-packed meeting at ASH Mall near Town Hall Budgam. Muntazir joining mainstream politics is seen as a strategic fillip for the PDP, especially in Budgam, the bastion where the party has traditionally enjoyed massive sway. His association with the PDP could come out to be decisive on the poll outcome in the district.

With the region gearing up for elections, Muntazir’s joining of the PDP party has already started to have an impact on the political scenario, with many seeing it as a move that will substantially benefit the campaign efforts of the party in Budgam
