ECI team arrives in Jmu for key Assembly Elections review meeting

Jammu: The Election Commission of India (ECI) team arrived in Jammu as part of its crucial review of the upcoming Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Yesterday the team engaged in discussions with various political parties in Kashmir, focusing on the logistics and timing of the elections, which are anticipated to be held between September and October this year.
Sources indicate that the ECI team will conduct an important review session in Jammu today. Following this, a press conference is expected where the commission will provide updates on their plans and decisions.
During their meetings in Kashmir, political parties, including the Indian National Congress (INC), emphasized the urgency of holding the Assembly elections promptly. “The restoration of a democratic government is essential for the well-being and stability of Jammu and Kashmir. We urge the Election Commission to expedite the electoral process,” said a senior INC leader.
Another political figure remarked, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have been waiting for their elected representatives to return. It’s crucial that we move forward with the elections to restore democratic governance in the region.”
The Election Commission’s visit and subsequent actions are closely watched by both local stakeholders and the broader public as they signify a significant step towards reestablishing democratic processes in Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
